...about life, art and photography:

(Anonymous/Movie characters/Photo editors/Advertising slogans)

I married the model, so I still pay for the shooting....
:bulletwhite:
Some of us cynics say that "the quickest way to make a million dollars in photography, is to start with two million dollars".
:bulletwhite:
In the end, better pictures always win. It's only a question of who has them.
:bulletwhite:
Terrorists are tourists with guns. Tourists are terrorists with cameras.
:bulletwhite:
In photography, the biggest difference between an amateur and a professional is... the size of the wastebasket.
:bulletwhite:
If you did manage to get any good shots, they will be ruined when someone inadvertently opens the darkroom door and all of the dark leaks out.
:bulletwhite:
I remember when I was a good photographer.
:bulletwhite:
Photographs don’t lie, people do.
:bulletwhite:
The only difference between Pornography and Art is the lighting.
:bulletwhite:
When people say photography is not art what they actually mean is THEIR photography is not art.
:bulletwhite:
Photographers are violent people. First they frame you, then they shoot you, then they hang you on the wall.
:bulletwhite:
The last thing I need is another picture of me looking like a porcelain doll.
:bulletwhite:
Take my picture. I'm feeling beautiful tonight.
:bulletwhite:
Good negatives don't smoke, drink, or run around with other negatives.
:bulletwhite:
I hate photo's. They speak too much.
:bulletwhite:
Beautiful women are for men without fantasy.
:bulletwhite:
The quickest way to make money at photography is to sell your camera.  ;-)

Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn´t a very interesting photograph. If it were, they would have more to say.
:bulletwhite:
What is the most important element of photography: Light? Moment? Composition? You are wrong. - It's magic.
:bulletwhite:
I have never been satisfied with my photos and that is why, everyday, I have tried to improve them.
:bulletwhite:
It is not enough to be a good photographer. You also need to be a good person who takes pictures.
:bulletwhite:
The goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer.
:bulletwhite:
Anyone can take a picture...a person with a passion sees the picture before it's taken.
:bulletwhite:
One picture could change your life.
:bulletwhite:
The most important printing technique is to start with a perfect negative.
:bulletwhite:
A good photograph will make an uncommonly good image of common subjects.
:bulletwhite:
Photography is way to tell others how you feel about what you see.
:bulletwhite:
Pictures are just there to fill spaces around the stories.
:bulletwhite:
When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
:bulletwhite:
Putting the camera in their faces is always the hardest. But you just have to do it.
:bulletwhite:
If you can't make it better make it bigger.
:bulletwhite:
God made the light, I just paint with it. Amen.
:bulletwhite:

And something very special in the end:

IF YOU BUY A FLUTE, YOU OWN A FLUTE.
SO WHY IS IT THAT WHEN YOU BUY A CAMERA, YOU'RE A PHOTOGRAPHER…?

...about life, art and photography:

(Ansel Easton Adams, 1902 - 1984, an american photographer. For his images, he developed the zone system, a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. The resulting clarity and depth characterized his photographs. Although his large-format view cameras were difficult to use because of their size, weight, setup time, and film cost, their high resolution ensured sharpness in his images.)

Twelve significant photograps in any one year is a good crop.
:bulletwhite:
There is nothing worse than a brilliant image of a fuzzy concept.
:bulletwhite:
There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer.
:bulletwhite:
There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.
:bulletwhite:
Every man´s work is always a portrait of himself.
:bulletwhite:
When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silent.
:bulletwhite:
I am always surprised when I see several cameras, a gaggle on lenses, filters, meters, et cetera, rattling around in a soft bag with a complement of refuse and dust. Sometimes the professional is the worst offender!
:bulletwhite:
The only things in my life that compatibly exist with this grand universe are the creative works of the human spirit.
:bulletwhite:
A photograph is not an accident – it is a concept.
:bulletwhite:
I can look at a fine art photograph and sometimes I can hear music.
:bulletwhite:
A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed.
:bulletwhite:
I can't verbalize the internal meaning of pictures whatsoever. Some of my friends can at very mystical levels, but I prefer to say that, if I feel something strongly, I would make a photograph, that would be the equivalent of what I saw and felt.
:bulletwhite:
You don't take a photograph, you make it.
:bulletwhite:
My last word s that it all depends on what you visualize.
:bulletwhite:

And something very special in the end:

WE DON'T MAKE A PHOTOGRAPH JUST WITH A CAMERA,
WE BRING TO THE ACT OF PHOTOGRAPHY ALL THE BOOKS WE HAVE READ,
THE MOVIES WE HAVE SEEN,
THE MUSIC WE HAVE HEARD,
THE PEOPLE WE HAVE LOVED.

(Henri Cartier-Bresson, 1908-2004, father of modern photojournalism, street photography and an early adopter of 35 mm format)

YOUR FIRST 10 000 PHOTOGRAPS ARE YOUR WORST. ;-)
:bulletwhite:
Photography has not changed since its origin except in its technical aspects, whitch for me are not important.
:bulletwhite:
People don´t watch enough. They think. It´s not the same thing.
:bulletwhite:
The photograph itself doesn't interest me. I want only to capture a minute part of reality.
:bulletwhite:
It seems dangerous to be a portrait artist who does commissions for clients because everyone wants to be flattered, so they pose in such a way that there’s nothing left of truth.
:bulletwhite:
Sharpness is a bourgeois concept.
:bulletwhite:
Of course it's all luck.
:bulletwhite:
Photography, for me is a supreme moment captured with a single shot.
:bulletwhite:

And something very special in the end:

’THEY . . . ASKED ME:
"HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR PICTURES?”…' I WAS PUZZLED . . .
"I SAID, 'I DON'T KNOW, IT'S NOT IMPORTANT.'…..“

There is a job to be done...to record the truth. I want to wake people up!
James Nachtwey
:bulletwhite:
My job as a portrait photographer is to seduce, amuse and entertain.
Look, I'm not an intellectual - I just take pictures.
Helmut Newton
:bulletwhite:
I have no way of portraying the lives of others. I portray my own.
Jan Saudek
:bulletwhite:
The photograph that I call my best from a sitting is not always the clients favorite but it is the one that gives out the most emotion to anyone who looks at it .
Marsha Cairo
:bulletwhite:
A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.
When I say I want to photograph someone, what it really means is that I'd like to know them.
Annie Leibovitz
:bulletwhite:
If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough.
Like the people you shoot and let them know it.
Robert Capa
:bulletwhite:
To me, photography is an art of observation. It´s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place...I´ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.
If you keep your cool, you'll get everything.
It's about time we started to take photography seriously and treat it as a hobby.
Elliott Erwitt
:bulletwhite:
I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn´t photograph them.
Photography was a licence to go whenever I wanted and to do what I wanted to do.
Diane Arbus
:bulletwhite:
I am not interested in shooting new things – I am interesting to see things new.
Ernst Haas

And something very special in the end:

PHOTOGRAPHERS FEEL GUILTY THAT ALL THEY DO FOR A LIVING IS PRESS A BUTTON.
Andy Warhol
